CNC turning is very efficient for bulk production. But in cases of manufacturing small quantities or repairing parts and adding operations to existing parts, conventional / manual turning is needed. This lathe work is done manually because it is not as automatic as the CNC turning performed by computer software. Conventional lathe work requires the close presence of a professional (machinist) to operate the machine and practical supervision of the turning process.
The main advantages of conventional lathe work are lower pricing relative to CNC turning and fast production time for individual parts and assemblies.
